At The Art Center of Dover

The Award-Winning Art Center in Dover, New Hampshire Presents: An Exhibit of Small Works

November 1st - December 31st, 2021

The artworks currently on display at The Art Center show a wide range of techniques and subject matter that will be of interest to any connoisseur of fine and contemporary art.  In keeping with the theme of the show, none of the artwork on display is over 12”x12” inches and most of the work is priced to sell to the discerning collector.  Any of these works will provide a unique and cherished gift for the upcoming holiday season.

The Art Center leans toward the contemporary in their exhibitions and this show is no exception.  However, this one has a balance of black and white pieces mixed in with the bright and exuberant colors typical of Art Center displays.  Of particular note are the scratchboard etchings of Russell Brandwein, the lithography prints of Georgeanna Whittaker Fellio and the ink work of artist-in-residence at The Art Center, AJ Jessome.

Alicia Sampson Ethridge and Hannah Brown each have three quirky, colorful pieces that are a steal at 75.00 or less each.   The works of Joe Flaherty are evocative mixed media pieces of oil over acrylic with graphite and if you are looking for a seacoast themed piece you can’t do any better than ‘Lobster’ and ‘Oyster Shells’, watercolors by Liliia (Yuliya) Shuel and a beautiful ocean wave diptych by Dale Tremblay.

The Art Center will be hosting A WINTER CELEBRATION OF THE ARTS with a special event on December 4th from 6 PM to 9 PM.  This event will not only highlight the Small Works Exhibit but enhance it with live music, art demonstrations, book signings and will also showcase the resident artists at The Art Center who will have work for sale.  Guests will also enjoy complimentary wine and cheese.

IN LOVING MEMORY

Rodee Hansen, a member of The Art Center, passed away on November 1st from a long battle with cancer.  Rodee joined The Art Center in February 2020 after she moved to Dover, NH from Long Island, New York to be closer to her daughters.  It was an honor to have Rodee as a member of The Art Center and once The Art Center was able to reopen after the shutdown, Rodee submitted artwork for every exhibition.  She even stopped by to drop off work for the current Small Works Exhibition. Rodee was a dear friend of the Art Center’s proprietress Rebecca Proctor, so to honor her, The Art Center will be celebrating Rodee's life by dedicating the entire stage area with a selection of her artworks during the month of December.  Rodee will be truly missed at The Art Center as she touched so many hearts here with her love and kindness.
