Spring Training for
Barrington Trails

Saturday, 10 April 2021 | 9:30-11:30AM
Kids of the River | 354 Scruton Pond Rd

Every season needs some spring training to get ready. And so do the Barrington Trails. Join our team of Elaine Sullivan (hike leader), Charlie Tatham (grounds crew) and Jack Gale (guy yelling pepper) as we head out on the Kids of the River trails while the Trails Committee demonstrates how we maintain our trails. See what goes into maintaining the miles of trails we are fortunate to share in our town.

How do you trim a tree so it doesn't die? How do you pick a trail route? How do we decide what stuff can stay and what has to go? How wide should a trail be? How do we deal with slopes? How do you deal with water?

We do the work and you get to ask the questions. We bring our tools; we ask you to dress for spring weather, with suitable footwear and tick protection. We will not ask you to pick up a tool. Please leave your furry, four-legged friends at home.
The total length of trails on this property  is less than one mile, and it has a beautiful section along the Isinglass River. There is one short moderately steep section. There is a parking area at the address above.

Length:  ~1 miles.
Estimated walking time:  ~2 hrs

Directions:  Go north on Rt 125 from the center for 1.5 miles to a left onto Scruton Pond Road. Go 1.6 miles until you see the sign and parking lot for Kids of the River.
