WACKY ART at the Children’s Museum of NH
Dover, NH – (January 3, 2020) The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire in Dover now offers Wacky Art Wednesday drop-in art workshops for children ages 2 and up and their caregivers. Each Wednesday at 2pm, a different medium will be explored ranging from clay to paint and everything in between. Cost for workshops is included with museum admission and free for members. Museum admission is $11 for adults and children over the age of 12 months, and $9 for seniors ages 65+. Admission is free for children under age 1.
Meredith Brustlin, CMNH Early Childhood and Literacy Coordinator, oversees the art creations in the museum’s MUSE Studio, a welcoming and bright space where making a mess and exploring art is encouraged year round. “Exploring art is something we’ve always done here at the museum,” said Meredith. “Art is a fundamental part of childhood and makes a great companion to play exploration, so we incorporate art into many of our programs and events. Whether that’s a Junior Science class focusing on Math, or a Valentine’s themed T-Rex Tea Party – all programs offered here at CMNH – you’ll find art-making incorporated across the board.”
The museum’s commitment to art is clear with the presence of the Gallery 6 art exhibitions, which line the walls of the ramp leading up to the second floor of the museum. These rotating exhibitions feature art by local artists with varying themes. The current exhibition “Unbound” will end January 10th and features a collection of mixed media art by 5 local artists who, almost mischievously, snip, rip, mark, fill, cover up, and create artwork from the shells and guts of books. The next exhibition in Gallery 6 will be a collaboration with Dover’s own “Wrong Brain” artist’s group.
Art programming at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire is supported by the NH State Council on the Arts, Georgia-Pacific and the Fuller Foundation.
