The Art Center Hosts Women’s Caucus for Art, NH Chapter Exhibition: Inflection Point—Thirty Years of WCA/NH

Dover, NH — September 2025

The Art Center in Dover, NH, presents Inflection Point: Thirty Years of WCA/NH, an exhibition by the Women’s Caucus for Art, New Hampshire Chapter. The show runs from September 8 through October 31, 2025, with an artists’ reception on Saturday, October 4, from 6–9 PM.

This landmark exhibition highlights the legacy and ongoing influence of WCA/NH, featuring works by the original founders of the organization—Gail Smuda, Adrienne Kernan LaVallee, Loretta CR Hubley, Elsa Voelcker, and Melissa McCarthy—along with a statement by founding member and art historian Inez McDermott. In addition, the exhibition showcases the vibrant creativity of current members, bringing together 93 works of art in a wide-ranging and powerful display.

Founded as part of the national Women’s Caucus for Art, WCA/NH is dedicated to advancing women in the visual arts through educational programs, networking, and exhibition opportunities. Each year, the chapter hosts two statewide meetings, organizes multiple exhibitions, and facilitates monthly regional meetups to strengthen community and foster growth among women artists across New Hampshire.

“The Inflection Point exhibition reflects both the history and the future of women’s voices in the visual arts,” said Rebecca Proctor, owner and operator of The Art Center. “We are honored to host such a significant and inspiring body of work.”

The Art Center is an award-winning creative hub with two floors of galleries, studios, and exhibition spaces within Dover’s historic mill. Its mission is to promote the creation, display, and sale of artwork by resident and member artists, while fostering cultural awareness through community partnerships and educational programs.
