The Art Center Presents Its 1st Contemporary Sculpture Exhibition

DOVER, NH - September 2025

The Art Center proudly announces its 1st Contemporary Sculpture Exhibition, featuring over 15 sculptors from across the United States and an extraordinary range of contemporary three-dimensional works.

The exhibition transforms The Art Center’s award-winning galleries into an immersive landscape of form, balance, and imagination. Visitors will encounter a captivating range of works, from graceful metal ribbons twisting into airy, architectural arcs and sculptures carved from wood with bold textures and rhythmic lines, to abstract stone forms polished to meditative stillness. The exhibition also features playful assemblages of found objects and industrial materials, alongside mobiles suspended in midair, delicately balanced to move with the slightest breeze. Many works draw inspiration from the natural world, with organic shapes echoing landscapes and human forms, inviting reflection on the connection between humanity, nature, and contemporary expression.

The Contemporary Sculpture Exhibition will be on view from September 8 through October 31, 2025, with an Artists’ Reception on Saturday, October 4, from 6–9 PM. The public is warmly invited to attend and meet the sculptors in person.

Participating artists include: Daniela Wenzel, Joan Mullen, Aaron Stanley, Darryl Loyer, Eric Ordway, Sarah Clark, Markus Weinfurter, Chelsea Knoll, Phie Deal, Renqian Yang, Paul Sears, Merritt Schnipper, Lucien Koonce, Lillian Bolster and Nancy Priest.

“This exhibition represents a milestone for The Art Center,” said Rebecca Proctor, Owner and Director. “By bringing together sculptors from across the country, we are opening our doors to a national conversation in contemporary sculpture. Our vision is to make this the first of many annual sculpture exhibitions, building a tradition that will inspire artists and audiences alike.”

The Contemporary Sculpture Exhibition is part of The Art Center’s ongoing mission to showcase a wide range of artistic expression in its 9,500 square feet of galleries and studios. Located in the historic Washington Street Mills in Dover, The Art Center has become a vibrant hub for artists and art lovers throughout the Seacoast region and beyond.
