Weekend Walkabout
At Stonehouse Pond
Weekend Walkabout
Trails Committee chair, Charlie Tatham, is taking a break from building and installing new trails benches (we even placed one on the Beaver Loop Trail at Calef West overlooking some heron nests) to lead our walkabout. Join us for our last hike of the summer.
Stonehouse Pond
Saturday, August 12h @ 9:30-11:30 AM
~1847 Franklin Pierce Hwy , Barrington
The Barrington Trails Committee is leading a walk on the Stonehouse Forest that will ascend to the ledges overlooking Stonehouse Pond while circumnavigating the pond on trails constructed by the Southeast Land Trust (SELT). We start from the parking area on Stonehouse Pond Road off Rt 202/9 opposite 1847 Franklin Pierce Hwy., about 3.1mi on the right from Rt 4 in Northwood or 1.9mi on the left from the junction of Rt 202 and 9. The route is about 2 miles long with mostly moderate slopes. Views from the top are the best in town.
Come ready for the weather, possible ticks (tick protection) and some water and prepare to enjoy the trails and Mother Nature over about 2 hours. Please leave the family pet at home.
