Battle of the

Buckthorn

Calef East
(~446 Scruton Pond Rd)

Tuesday, 9 May, 9:00 AM

We’re bringing tools, water and friends to clear the invasive buckthorn that is overgrowing the River Trail at the Calef Isinglass Preserve. Learn how we can check the growth of this unwelcome bush.

We’ll show you…

  • how to identify buckthorn
  • how to use a weed wrench
  • how to “slow-kill” a big one with a empty can
  • how to stage buckthorn to die without carrying it out.

We’re bringing….

  • Weed wrenches, cans and tools
  • Trained invasive killers
  • Volunteers from Liberty Mutual in Dover

We need you to bring…

  • Work gloves
  • Water bottles
  • Tick protection
  • A three hour effort
