Annual Contemporary | Abstract Exhibition

The Art Center is thrilled to announce the opening of its highly anticipated Annual Contemporary | Abstract Exhibition, now on display through December 31. This extraordinary showcase is the largest exhibition ever held at The Art Center, featuring a stunning array of contemporary and abstract artworks from both local and national artists.

This year’s exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Resident Artist Tim Gilbert, a cherished member of The Art Center community who passed away in October. In honor of Tim’s legacy and profound impact, the entire gallery has been dedicated to this special event.

Visitors can look forward to an unforgettable experience, including a highlight presentation by The Abstract 4 titled “Abstracting Winter in New England,” which brings the essence of the season to life through powerful abstract interpretations.

An Artist Reception will take place on Saturday, December 7, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at The Art Center, located at 1 Washington Street, Suite 1177, Dover, NH. The reception offers an excellent opportunity to meet the artists, explore the works in depth, and enjoy an evening of artistic inspiration.

For those unable to visit in person, the exhibition can also be viewed online at www.theartcenteronlinegallery.com. Don’t miss this celebration of creativity and abstract expression!

The Ghost Train is a stage comedy-thriller, written in 1923 by the English actor and playwright, Arnold Ridley. The story centers upon the social interaction of a group of railway passengers who are stranded at a remote rural station overnight, and are increasingly threatened by a latent external force, with a “denouement” ending. The play ran for over a year in its original sold-out London theatrical run and is regarded as a modern minor classic. It has been adapted for several movies and radio dramas over the years. The setting: A waiting room of the (dingy, rundown) Railway Station at Clear Vale Junction, Rockland, Maine. Circa 1930.

A note from the Director:  I have referred to it as “Agatha Christie meets Scooby Doo”.

Garrison Players Arts Center (GPAC) is a nonprofit, volunteer-based community theatre group dedicated to enriching the cultural life of the area by presenting high-quality theatrical performances geared for family audiences. Established in 1953, the Players encourage people of all ages to enjoy and participate in the many facets of the performing arts, and to help maintain the Garrison Players Arts Center.
