Volunteers for building clean-out

What’s better than free food? Free food AND helping a worthy cause!

Garrison Players is hosting its biannual building clean-out on January 28, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Coffee and donuts will be provided for all volunteers in the morning, and pizza and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided for lunch. The work involves carrying unneeded items outside for eventual disposal, as well as a little light maintenance work—such as installing light bulbs! (No pun intended!)

The clean-out is always a fun time, and it’s a great opportunity to meet new people, learn about Garrison Players, get involved in theater, and help us prepare for upcoming shows by making room in the building for new props, costumes, and dressing areas.

Come join the fun, either for the whole time or even for just an hour or two!

It helps us plan if we know you’re coming but you’re also welcome to just swing by. To R.S.V.P., please contact Barb at recsec@garrisonplayers.org.

The Lions Club of Dover, Rollinsford and South Berwick dedicate Trex bench

The Lions Club of Dover, Rollinsford and South Berwick dedicate Trex bench to Dover400 For Immediate Release: The Dover, Rollinsford and South Berwick (DRSB) Lions Club has dedicated one of their TREX benches to the Dover400 Anniversary Committee. The bench is part of a very successful recycling effort; one of six that have been donated throughout local towns as part of the Trex “Nextrex” challenge. The benches are made from plastics collected and recycled by club members and transformed by Trex into lovely benches complete with bronze plaques. Each bench represents 500 pounds of plastics that would have otherwise ended up in our landfills. Dover400 President Kevin McEneaney and Vice President Sam Allen were present to accept the bench at the Lions regular Wednesday meeting on December 21,2022 at Cara Irish Pub. The bench was received just in time for their “First of the 400th” Gala at Dover City Hall on December 31, 2022. The bench will ultimately be placed on the lawn of the Dover Library, where summer programs for children are held, among other events. The Lions Club of Dover, Rollinsford and South Berwick is a member of the Lions Club International, which began in 1917. Their motto is “We Serve.” The club gathers monthly to find ways to improve their community. Cornerstone VNA Receives Donation from The Fabulous Find

Cornerstone VNA Receives Donation from The Fabulous Find

Rochester, NH – Cornerstone VNA, a local nonprofit home health and hospice care organization, recently received a generous donation of over $8,500 from The Fabulous Find, a boutique style resale shop at 139 State Rd (Route One) in Kittery, ME.  This unique resale boutique partners with different worthy, local nonprofit organizations each month, as determined by their Board of Directors, and Cornerstone VNA was selected as one of four nonprofit recipients for the month of October, alongside the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire, Triangle Club and Pro Portsmouth. All four nonprofits received a check for over $8,500 each, which represents the total profits from the month of October.  Marcye Philbrook, Board President of The Fabulous Find notes, “The Fabulous Find is so happy to be able to partner with Cornerstone VNA. Most of us have had family members or people we know who have benefitted from the amazing care of visiting nurses. Cornerstone VNA is one of those quiet organizations that do so much good in our community.”

Erika Lee, MHA, Director of Advancement shares, “Cornerstone VNA was so honored to have been chosen by this wonderfully resourceful store that gives so much to local nonprofits.” Lee adds, “The generous funds they awarded us will be used to support underfunded programs such as Palliative Care, non-reimbursable specialty training, such as lymphedema, as well as access to care for those in need.”

Founded in 2010 by a small group of Seacoast Maine and New Hampshire women, The Fabulous Find has given over 2.3 million dollars to well over 150 area nonprofits. In addition to their monthly partners, there are schools and other organizations that they give smaller gifts to.
