Garrison Players holding auditions

Garrison Players will be holding auditions for “The White Liars” and “Black Comedy”. Two one-act plays by Peter Shaffer (author of “Equus” and “Amadeus”) on Sunday, December 3 from 12-2pm & Tuesday, December 5 from 7-9pm. Roles: 4f, 7m, ages ranging from 20’s-60’s. The Art Center is thrilled to announce the mesmerizing exhibition of renowned artist Shaune McCarthy, featuring a captivating collection of contemporary paintings and original ceramic sculptures. This unique artistic journey takes viewers from figure sculptures’ intricacies to canvases’ vibrancy.

Shaune McCarthy gained initial recognition for her intricate figure sculptures showcased in galleries throughout New England. Her transition to painting has marked a distinctive chapter in her career, resulting in a harmonious blend of spontaneity, drama, and vivid patterns that define her contemporary works.

The exhibition at The Art Center showcases several of Shaune’s original ceramic sculptures alongside her dynamic contemporary paintings. Describing her creative process as “improvisations,” Shaune embraces chance and imagination, often starting with a single pour of color on canvas. The result is a body of work that reflects her diverse creative spirit and invites viewers into an otherworldly, mystical, and humorous world.

The Art Center is thrilled to announce the opening of its highly anticipated Annual Contemporary | Abstract Exhibition, featuring a dynamic collection of works by over 40 talented artists. The exhibit includes diverse artistic expressions such as paintings, collages, mixed media, printmaking, photography, and sculptures. 

 

The showcase highlights the extraordinary talents of both emerging and established artists, focusing on Seacoast favorites who have significantly contributed to the local art scene. Among the featured artists are Tim Gilbert, Joe Flaherty, Beth Wittenberg, Dawn Boyer, Rebecca Klementovich, Maria “Pep” Manalang, Brian Wagoner, aka Bunkt_, and Brooke Lambert. Their creations promise to captivate art enthusiasts with a mesmerizing display of color, form, and creativity.

 

To mark the opening of this spectacular exhibition, The Art Center invites the community to join “A Celebration for the Arts” on Saturday, December 2, from 6-9 pm. This event offers an opportunity to engage with the artists, gain insights into their creative processes, and celebrate the thriving arts community in Dover.

37th Annual Lights of Love Returns to In-person

 

Rochester, NH:  Cornerstone VNA, a local nonprofit provider of high-quality, skilled care at home, is pleased to announce that the 37th Annual Jane Cooper Fall Lights of Love Celebration will be held in person at the First United Methodist Church in Rochester on December 6th at 4:30 p.m.

 

For over three decades, Lights of Love has flourished as a special community gathering, thanks to the dedicated efforts and visionary leadership of Jane Cooper Fall. Jane Cooper Fall served as the driving force behind Lights of Love, providing a platform for community members to pay heartfelt tributes to those who have positively impacted their lives. While Jane passed away in October 2018, her legacy is proudly and reverently upheld by the Cornerstone VNA team, along with volunteers from the former Frisbie Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Board, community members, and Jane’s cherished friends.

 

In the words of Julie Reynolds, Cornerstone VNA President/CEO, “We are deeply honored to continue organizing this event in line with Jane’s enduring vision for many years to come, ensuring that her spirit of goodwill lives on as a lasting legacy.”

 

Community members can participate in this annual holiday tradition to honor, remember, and celebrate those who have had a special impact on their lives. Pancake Breakfast

The Dover, Rollinsford and South Berwick Lions Club hosts a Community Pancake Breakfast to benefit the Ryan Home Project at the Rollinsford American Legion on November 26th from 8am to 11am.  Breakfast is by donation and includes real local maple syrup.  

Holiday Card Workshop

Holiday Card Workshop on November 12th from 4-6pm. Cost $20. Learn how to create dry embossed backgrounds for your die cut focus images and greeting. We will create 4 cards and a tag at Custom Collectibles 334 Central Ave, Dover.
