Cornerstone VNA Welcomes New Assistant Hospice Medical Director

 

Rochester, NH – Cornerstone VNA, a local nonprofit home health provider, welcomes Dr. Peter Saikali, MD, as the new Assistant Hospice Medical Director. Dr. Saikali brings a wealth of experience and expertise, further strengthening Cornerstone VNA’s commitment to providing exceptional Hospice Care and support to patients and their families.

 

In addition to his part-time Assistant Hospice Medical Director role at Cornerstone VNA, Dr. Saikali serves as the HCA/Envision Regional Medical Director and Hospitalist at Portsmouth Regional Hospital and is a Hospitalist for two other local HCA hospitals including Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH, and Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA.

 

Dr. Saikali’s academic achievements include a Doctor of Medicine degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine and a Master’s of Business Administration from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts. Throughout his career, Dr. Saikali has demonstrated a strong commitment to clinical excellence, research, and patient-centered care, and has received numerous awards and recognitions for his dedication and impact in the field of medicine.

In addition to his achievements, Dr. Saikali is actively involved in various committees, including the Utilization Review Committee and Credentialing Committee at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He also participated in a 6-week learning and teaching experience at a hospital in Zimbabwe to learn more about global medicine.

With my expertise in internal medicine, coupled with my passion for hospice and palliation, I know Cornerstone VNA and I will do amazing things for our patients.” Dr. Saikali continues, “Ensuring that patients have dignity and compassionate care in their most vulnerable times is what drives my interest. Big Trees of Portsmouth Presentations and Tour on Sunday, June 23rd at 10 am, tour at 11:30 am at the Portsmouth Historical Society. Have you ever wondered about the history our Portsmouth trees have seen? Join author and boatbuilder Kevin Martin for a presentation on some of Portsmouth’s largest, oldest, and most interesting trees. $20 for non-members/ $15 for members.

42nd International Children’s Festival

Somersworth Celebrates 42nd International Children’s Festival on June 14th and 15th. Friday night’s Celebration starts at 5:30 p.m. at Somersworth High School, with live entertainment. On Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Main Street in Somersworth will be transformed into a vibrant street filled with lots of fun for the kids, yummy food, craft and retail vendors, educational exhibits, and talented street performers. 

Beginner Modern Square Dance class

Beginner Modern Square Dance class on Thursday, June 6th at the Portsmouth Senior Activity Center, 125 Cottage St.  No partner, no special clothing and no experience needed. Free the first week. New Castle Arts and Crafts Fair

New Castle Arts and Crafts Fair on July 27 from 9-3 at the New Castle Congregational Church, 65 Main Street, New Castle. Juried Arts and Crafts Fair with Artists and crafters from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine offering art works in oils, watercolors, fiber arts, photography, acrylics and other media as well as jewelry, crafted wood items, handsome bags, ceramics, and other items. There are hot dogs and strawberry shortcake if you are hungry, and a raffle chock full of goodies to choose from.

31st Annual Rotary Club of Portsmouth Golf Tournament on June 14th at the Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth in honor of Marie Brownell. Marie and her husband Rick were awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship in honor of the $25,000 that they have donated to Rotary International over the past 16 years. Third Annual Charity Corn Hole Tournament

Third Annual Charity Corn Hole Tournament to be Hosted by Dover, Rollinsford, South Berwick Lions Club

The Dover, Rollinsford, South Berwick Lions Club is hosting its third annual Corn Hole Tournament on August 10, 2024 at The Barn at Dunn Farm in Berwick.  Funds raised will benefit local charity “Annie’s Angels” (www.anniesangels.org).  Annie’s Angels helps families struggling with life threatening illness and disabilities in and around the seacoast area.   

Gold, Silver and Bronze Sponsorships are available through June 30, 2023.

Last year the group raised $6,000 for Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth Health thanks to the local business community that rallied to support the cause, including SC Digital, Seacoast Tree Care, Southers Construction, J. Lapierre Construction, Jayco Disposal, Key Auto Group, Kind Farms, Somersworth Nissan, High Effect Web Design, Insurcomm, Jennifer Halteman Insurance, Meineke,  BankNH, Kennebunk Savings, M&T Bank, and Servpro.
